The state of Texas has been home to many semiconductor & electronics manufacturing Companies since Texas Instruments was formed in Dallas in 1951. and would grown to also have semiconductor plants in the Midland area.
The majority of Texas's Semiconductor industry now takes place in the Austin area. In the past other areas such as Midland, Odessa, and Dallas had the majority of semiconductor manufacturing activity.
The Austin area has been the home of numerous semiconductor manufacturing facilities by IBM, Freescale, Cypress, Dallas Semiconductor (now Maxim Integrated/ Analog Devices), Samsung, NXP, AMD, Altera, Intel, Spansion, Cirrus Logic, ARM, Zarlink, Alereon, PMC-Sierra, Silicon Laboratories, Applied Micro Circuits, and Bandspeed.
